Her achievements as a young performer in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the category of child prodigies. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these traits came as a normal. Maureen entered the sanctity of family on the 17th of August 1920, located in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mother. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also held shares of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons came second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and excelled at sports. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. The fact that she was awarded nearly every Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama proved this. At the age of 14, she was invited into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater as well as operatic vocals.
